Amber Valley CVS – Bespoke Befriending Support Worker

In order to address issues of loneliness and isolation and to compliment our existing volunteer led Befriending we are piloting a Bespoke service for those we cannot currently provide support to which addresses their specified needs.

This post needs individuals who can motivate and accompany clients inside or outside the home with a variety of activities that will improve WellBeing. This service includes a charge to clients. All activity will be aimed at reducing social isolation and improving access to the wider community

You will ;

  • have experience of working in the community with evidence of recent customer support.
  • have empathy and good communication skills with people of all backgrounds
  • be creative and able to work on your own initiative
  • have knowledge and skills relating to work with older people including those with disabilities
  • have good administrative skills and be able to maintain records required for the project.
  • have the ability to work in a team and liaise with other agencies to market the service and offer appropriate support alongside other packages..


Salary ;£7.85 per hour

Hours of work :nil hours, some evening work or weekend work may be required

Holidays: 6wks,pro rata + bank holidays.

Based in Ripley, working in areas of Amber Valley           Contract length: ongoing

An enhanced DBS will be required for this position

Amber Valley CVS are recruiting Domestic Workers in Ilkeston, Heanor, Alfreton,

Ripley, Belper, and the surrounding areas to work with their Help at Home Domestic Team


No late nights, early mornings or weekend work……………………………………………….

Help at Home provides domestic support to older and/or disabled clients in their own homes. The post is one of nil hours meaning there is no guarantee of hours, however the successful candidate will advise us their hours of availability for work, and AVCVS will aim to find work within this time. Our hours operate between 9.00am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

The role includes cleaning, shopping and ironing at people’s homes to promote independent living.

Person spec: reliable, trustworthy, good cleaning skills and customer focused. Mature applicants welcome. Must have access to transport, as work is in and around stated areas, previous experience of cleaning and working with vulnerable adults in their own homes is an advantage.

Travel costs only applicable to travel within your working day and not payable as travel to and from work expense.

Benefits: Holiday pay, Pension, Sickness pay, Flexible hours, DBS check paid by employer

Rate of pay £7.85 per hour – Travel time and mileage applicable for in between jobs
